Feast of Santo Niño de Cebú

OXNARD – The parish of Mary, Star of the Sea, 463 West Pleasant Valley Road, will be celebrating the Feast of Santo Niño de Cebú on Sunday, 15 January 2023, with a novena in preparation beginning on Friday, 6 January 2023.

The Feast of Santo Niño de Cebú celebrates a title of the Christ associated with a religious image of the Christ Child widely venerated as miraculous by Filipino Catholics. It is the oldest Christian artifact in the Philippines, originally a gift from the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan (1480-1521) to Don Carlos, Rajah of Cebu (d. 1521), on the occasion of his baptism in 1521.

The feast of Santo Nino will be celebrated on Sunday, 15 January 2023 with Mass at 12pm.
