Feast of the Black Nazarene

The image of the Black Nazarene at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (Spanish: Basílica Menor del Nazareno Negro; Filipino: Basílika Menor ng Itím na Nazareno), also known as the Parish of Saint John the Baptist in Quiapo, Manila, Philippines.

OXNARD – The parish of Mary, Star of the Sea, 463 West Pleasant Valley Road, will be celebrating the Feast of the Black Nazarene on 9 January 2023, with a novena in preparation beginning on Saturday, 31 December 2022.

The Feast of the Black Nazarene (Filipino: Pista ng Itím na Nazareno), is traditionally celebrated in Manila and is centered around the Black Nazarene (Spanish: El Nazareno Negro; Filipino: Poóng Itím na Nazareno), a life-sized image of a dark-skinned, kneeling Jesus Christ carrying the Cross enshrined in the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in the Quiapo district of the City of Manila in the Philippines.

  • Tuesday, 3 January 2023 – 6pm
  • Wednesday, 4 January 2023 – 6pm (Mother of Perpetual Help Novena at 5:15pm)
  • Thursday, 5 January 2023 – 6pm
  • Friday, 6 January 2023 – 6pm
  • Saturday, 7 January 2023 – 6pm
  • Sunday, 8 January 2023 – 6pm

The feast of the Black Nazarene will be celebrated on Monday, 9 January 2023 with a procession at 4:30pm, which will be immediately followed by a bilingual Mass.
