RIP: Fr Michael L. Cross
FELTON / SALINAS – The Diocese of Monterey in California has announced the funeral arrangements for the late Rev. Michael L. Cross, pastor emeritus of the parish of Saint John in Felton, who died on 3 January 2023 at the age of 87 .
Ordained in 1962 for the Diocese of Monterey-Fresno, Fr Cross first served at the parish of Sacred Heart in Fresno until the formation of the Diocese of Monterey in California in 1967. Fr Cross would then go on to serve at the parishes of St Joseph in Capitola (1966-1968), Sacred Heart in Salinas (1968-1973), Nativity of Our Lady in San Luis Obispo (1973-1979), St Joseph in Capitola (1979-1983), Madonna del Sasso in Salinas (1983-1996).
In 1996, Fr Cross was appointed the fourth pastor of the parish of St John in Felton and would serve the community for over 22 years.
Visiting Hours will take place from 1pm until 5pm on Sunday, 22 January 2023, with a Vigil at 6pm at the parish of Saint John in Felton, 120 Russell Avenue (Corner of Highway 9).
On Monday, 23 January 2023, the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am at the parish of Madonna del Sasso in Salinas, 320 E. Laurel Drive. A graveside committal ceremony will follow immediately at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Prunedale, 18200 Damian Way.
