SALINAS – The Filipino Ministry of the parish of Madonna del Sasso, 320 E. Laurel Drive, will be celebrating the feast of Saint Pedro Calungsod with a triduum novena (three nights of prayer) in the Killarney Room of the parish’s Cronin Center at 6pm beginning on Wednesday, 29 March and concluding on Friday, 31 March 2023.
On Saturday, 1 April 2023, a Mass in honor of Saint Pedro Calungsod will be celebrated at 1pm in the parish church. A reception will follow in Cross Hall.
Known as “the second Filipino saint”, Saint Pedro Calungsod, Lay Catechist and Martyr, was born in 1654 and died in 1672. He was beatified by Pope Saint John Paul II on 5 March 2000 and canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on 21 October 2012. He is the patron saint of Filipino youth, altar boys in the Philippines, overseas Filipino workers, Guam, and the Cebuanos. His feast day is 2 April.
