School of Ministry

HOLLISTER – On Saturday, 22 April and Saturday, 13 May 2023, the Diocese of Monterey in California will be offering a ministry training opportunity: Ministry to the Sick, Dying, and Home-bound / Hospital Patients from 9am until 3pm at the Saint Benedict parish hall, 1200 Fairview Road.

These workshops will provide “a relaxed, non-judgmental atmosphere in which to explore and hone our skills and confidence as pastoral caregivers. There will be teaching, group reflection, small group practice of listening and praying with, and plenty of Role Playing. Role play is a great opportunity to practice the art of care-giving through action and reflection. Treating Role
Play as ‘play,’ we will support each other to step into the role of pastoral care-
giver or care recipient, be willing to make mistakes in front of others, and
trust that this is how we learn to minister more effectively
“.

These workshops will also provide:

  • A theological framework for being a lay pastoral care minister,
  • Increase effective pastoral skills, affirm our faith in the love and mercy of God.

These workshops are open to all new and returning School of Ministry students. Register early before the session is full. Cost is $50.

For registration information contact Ann Ventura via email or by calling 831-645-2848.
