PACIFIC GROVE – On Friday, 18 July 2025, the Very Rev. Jerry L. McCormick, V.U., Pastor Emeritus of Saint Angela Merici, died at the age of 86.
Born on 3 April 1039, Fr McCormick was ordained to the priesthood in June of 1973. He served as the seventh pastor of the parish of Saint Francis Xavier in Seaside from 1982 until 1992, when he as appointed as the seventh pastor of the parish of Saint Angela Merici in Pacific Grove until his retirement in 2008. He also served as the fourth Vicar for Clergy for the Diocese of Monterey in California from 2000 until 2006, and was an honorary board member of Catholic Charities Diocese of Monterey, which he founded in 1984.
Visitation will be held on Monday, 4 August 2025 from 3pm until 6pm at the parish of Saint Angela Merici, 362 Lighthouse Avenue. A vigil will be celebrated at 4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 5 August 2025 at 10:30am in the parish church.
