MONTEREY – On Thursday, 11 June 2026, the parish San Carlos Cathedral, 500 Church Street, will host a Holy Hour of Adoration from 7pm until 8pm in conjunction with the forthcoming Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus by the country’s bishops.
During their November 2025 meeting, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops voted to consecrate the nation to the Sacred Heart in 2026 as part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The act of consecration draws upon a longstanding Catholic devotion to the Sacred Heart, which emphasizes Christ’s love for humanity and calls the faithful to lives of prayer, charity, and service.
This Holy Hour at the mother church of the Diocese of Monterey in California will provide an opportunity for the faithful to unite themselves spiritually with this national observance through Eucharistic adoration and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
