Millions of Monicas Prayer Group Begins

Saint Monica of Hippo by Benozzo Gozzoli (1464–1465)
Our Lady of Sorrows in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA – Beginning Monday, 5 October 2026, the parish of Our Lady of Sorrows, 21 E. Sola Street, will offer a new Millions of Monicas prayer group for women praying for children and loved ones who have fallen away from the practice of the Catholic faith.

The group will meet in the church on the first Monday of each month from 7pm until 8pm. Each gathering will consist of an hour of guided prayer, including the Rosary, offered for the return of loved ones to the Catholic faith and for God’s mercy in their lives.

Millions of Monicas is a Catholic prayer apostolate inspired by Saint Monica, who persevered for many years in prayer for the conversion of her son, Saint Augustine. Following her example, women gather to pray for their children and other loved ones and entrust them to God through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

All women are welcome, including mothers, grandmothers, aunts, godmothers, and Confirmation sponsors. The gatherings are devoted specifically to prayer rather than group discussion or the sharing of sensitive personal information.
