MONTEREY – On Wednesday, 9 September 2026, the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary will celebrate Saint Peter Claver Day at San Carlos Cathedral, 500 Church Street, with an evening of prayer, dinner, and fellowship.
The celebration will be held from 7pm until 9pm in the Cathedral Hall and will include prayer, dinner, and a presentation. Food and beverages will be provided, and participants are welcome to bring a favorite dish to share.
Founded on 7 November 1909, the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary is a historically Black Catholic fraternal organization open to Catholics of all backgrounds, with divisions for men, women, and young people. Named for Saint Peter Claver, the 17th-century Jesuit missionary who ministered to enslaved Africans arriving in Cartagena, Colombia, the organization promotes Catholic faith, fellowship, charitable service, and civic engagement.
The gathering will also provide an opportunity for individuals and families interested in learning more about membership in the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary.
All are welcome to attend.
