SAN LUIS OBISPO – On Wednesday, 30 September and Thursday, 1 October 2026, the parish of Saint Anne Byzantine Catholic Church, 222 East Foothill Boulevard, will observe the Solemn Holy Day of the Protection of the Theotokos.
The feast of the Protection of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary traditionally commemorates a vision in which the Theotokos (Mother of God) extended her veil over the faithful gathered in prayer at Constantinople’s Church of Blachernae, symbolizing her protection and intercession.
Great Vespers and Confessions will take place on Wednesday from 5:45pm until 6:15pm and at 6:30pm, respectively. On Thursday, Festal Matins will begin at 8am, Confessions will be heard from 9:15am until 9:30am, and Divine Liturgy will begin at 10am.
