Statewide NFP Conference Coming to the Central Coast

CANFP to Hold 15th Conference, “Hope in Truth and Love”

CARPINTERIA – On Saturday, 3 October 2026, the California Association of Natural Family Planning (CANFP) will hold its 15th Statewide Conference, Hope in Truth and Love, at Regina Ranch, overlooking Rincon Point near Carpinteria.

Centered on the theme of renewing hearts to witness the Gospel of Life and the truth of love and marriage, the conference will bring together Catholics from throughout California for a day of presentations, prayer, fellowship, and reflection. Attendance is limited to the first 100 registrants.

The conference will feature internationally recognized Catholic scholar and author Janet E. Smith, PhD, who will present Contraception: Where Are We Now? Smith is a longtime scholar of Catholic teaching on human sexuality and married love and previously served as a consulter to the Pontifical Council on the Family.

Other presentations will include Hope in Truth and Love by Fr. Blaise Berg, STD, president of CANFP and Assistant Professor of Dogmatics at Saint Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, and NaProTECHNOLOGY: Healing and Hope for Women by Catholic obstetrician and gynecologist Theresa Stigen, MD. A question-and-answer panel featuring the conference speakers will also be held during the afternoon.

The conference will begin with registration at 9am, with presentations and activities continuing throughout the day. Mass will be celebrated at 4pm, followed by a cocktail reception at 5pm and dinner at 6pm. Lunch, the cocktail reception, and dinner are included with registration.
Early registration through 31 August is $175 for CANFP members and $195 for non-members. Beginning in September, registration is $200 for members and $220 for non-members. A discounted $100 seminarian rate is also available.
